Both the physical and chemical characteristics of the lubricants and fluids are checked, identifying information on the wear of metals and the physical properties of the oil itself. Results should be reviewed with equipment history, operating conditions and previous data; a laboratory result alone does not guarantee a root-cause diagnosis or remaining service life.
