Overview
Nutrient data that answers a defined question
A nutrition panel should describe the finished food as sold or prepared under the declared instructions. Ingredient calculations, laboratory measurements and label presentation serve different purposes; the reporting basis must be agreed before work begins.
Chem-Tech reviews the product, ingredient declaration, processing conditions and intended use of the results. Nutrition testing can support product development, supplier comparisons and verification of selected declared nutrients.

Plan the nutritional measurements
Discuss protein, total fat, carbohydrate, moisture, ash and energy as applicable to the product and reporting objective.
Identify any additional declared nutrients or claims that need separate measurements; a basic proximate panel does not verify every vitamin, mineral or claim.
Agree the units, basis of expression and whether the result concerns the product as sold or as prepared.
Review formulation changes and batch variation when choosing representative samples.
Programme guidance
From laboratory data to a label
Check the applicable FSSAI Labelling and Display Regulations and amendments, or the destination-market rules. Serving size, rounding, nutrient calculation and claim eligibility need a separate label review. A laboratory result supplies analytical evidence; it does not automatically approve the label.
For a shelf-life declaration or nutrient-retention question, connect this work with a defined shelf-life study rather than extrapolating from one fresh sample.
Programme guidance
Prepare the product information
Send the product designation, ingredients, recipe or label draft, lot identity and storage instructions.
State whether the objective is formulation work, label verification, a nutrition claim or a supplier comparison.
Confirm the selected nutrients, sample quantity, reporting basis and quotation before dispatch.

Before dispatch
Sample-submission guidance
- Use a clean, secure and appropriately labelled container; agree sterile portions for microbiology.
- Provide the product name, ingredients, batch or lot, processing state, packaging and storage requirements.
- Share the target market, applicable product specification and testing objective. Confirm quantity, sample units and transport conditions before dispatch.

Reporting and interpretation
Review results against the agreed product specification, sampling plan, batch identity and method. A report applies to the submitted sample and agreed scope; it does not certify every batch or guarantee complete food safety.
